A private 8-day journey to encounter mountain gorillas, chimpanzees and Uganda's great wildlife
Eight days across four of Uganda's most iconic parks — from the forests of Kibale to the plains of Queen Elizabeth, the mist of Bwindi and the savannah of Lake Mburo. A private, guided safari for two.
Depending on arrival time, a short stay in a lodge near Entebbe or straight on to Kibale National Park, nicknamed the world's primate capital — home to 13 primate species, including chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus and grey-cheeked mangabeys. In the late afternoon, a walk through Bigodi Wetland, a community-run sanctuary home to more than 200 bird species and lush forest vegetation.
Four days at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains — chimpanzee trekking, savannah game drives, a Kazinga Channel cruise and the rare tree-climbing lions of Ishasha.
Early morning departure in search of wild chimpanzees — following their calls, play and social intelligence is a moving experience. UWA (Uganda Wildlife Authority) rangers guide you deep into the forest. After lunch, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains. In the evening, a first game drive across the savannah in search of elephants, buffalo, antelope — and perhaps the first lions.
Chimpanzee Trekking — MorningAn unhurried extra day to soak in the park at its own pace — morning and afternoon game drives across the Mweya Peninsula and the Channel Track, where elephants, buffalo and the park's resident lion prides gather along the water's edge. A relaxed lunch back at the lodge between drives, with time to simply watch the savannah unfold.
Full Day Game Drive — Mweya & Channel TrackSunrise game drive across the Kasenyi Plains, one of the park's best spots to watch lions on the hunt — the park counts more than 95 mammal species and 600 bird species. In the afternoon, a cruise along the Kazinga Channel, the waterway linking Lake Edward and Lake George: an extraordinary concentration of hippos and Nile crocodiles, surrounded by a multitude of waterbirds.
Kazinga Channel — Boat CruiseDeparture for the park's southern sector, Ishasha, famous for its tree-climbing lions — a rarity in Africa. These big cats rest in the branches of wild fig trees, a sight found almost nowhere else on the continent. In the afternoon, a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site home to nearly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas.
Tree-Climbing Lions — IshashaThe journey's crowning moment: one hour face to face with a family of mountain gorillas, deep within one of Africa's most ancient forests.
Early morning briefing with the rangers before setting off for the ultimate experience: an encounter with a family of mountain gorillas. A walk through mist, vines and birdsong leads to the gorillas — their deep gaze, calm presence and interactions leave an unforgettable, almost spiritual impression. Return to the lodge for a relaxed afternoon.
Gorilla Permit — 1 Hour With the FamilyThe final chapter of the journey — the savannah of Lake Mburo, a night game drive, a guided walk and one last rendezvous with the legendary shoebill stork before the flight home.
An early breakfast, then transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, known for its zebras, impala and eland. In the evening, a night game drive in search of leopards, genets and other nocturnal species — a rare experience among Uganda's parks.
An early-morning walking safari with a ranger, discovering wildlife at the pace of the bush, following tracks and sounds. Continuation to Entebbe with a stop at the Equator Line for photos. Before the flight, a visit to Mabamba Swamp, home to the legendary shoebill stork — a rare, prehistoric-looking bird and symbol of the delta. Transfer to Airport for international flight.
Shoebill Stork — Mabamba SwampEach stage of the journey has been confirmed with a lodge selected for its location, comfort and authenticity — from the forest edge to the shores of Lake Mburo.
Tucked at the edge of the forest, surrounded by tea plantations and birdsong.
Comfort, nature and an authentic atmosphere on the edge of the park.
An eco-lodge run by a women's community engaged in local development.
Panoramic views over the park, with a warm, distinctly African atmosphere.
Beyond the game drives, six extraordinary moments run through this journey — each chosen for its rarity and intensity, fitting for a country known as the "Pearl of Africa".
